The ancient Scots game of curling dates back to when games were played on frozen lochs and marshes. At Winter Games NZ the curling will take place at the Southern Hemisphere’s premiere indoor curling centre in Naseby. Mixed Doubles is played on ice as two teams take turns pushing a 19.1kg stone towards a series of concentric circles called the ‘house’. The object is to get the stone as close to the centre of the circles as possible.
Always exciting to watch, each match lasts around 90 minutes and during pool play four sheets (rinks) will be operating simultaneously providing continuous entertainment for the spectators. Everyone loves the warm Naseby welcome and the classic kiwi feeling you come away with from the Central Otago town, one event not to be missed.
Please refer to your National Association for entry forms and scheduling. We look forward to seeing you at the Maniototo International Curling Rink from 26 August until 31 August for the Curling Mixed Doubles.
