THE NORTH FACE FRONTIER 2* & 4* FREERIDE WORLD QUALIFIER
The North Face Frontier 2* Venue Change and 4* update
Winter Games NZ and The Remarkables have made the decision to shift The North Face Frontier 2* to Treble Cone for 2024, in order to ensure optimal conditions for the 2* and 4* events.
While Alta Chutes, where the 4* would usually be held, are skiing nicely for the general public, conditions aren’t conducive to running the Freeride World Qualifying event due to limited line choices. Therefore the 4* event has been shifted to Shadow Basin – where the 2* has traditionally been held.
Freeride World Tour rules require Winter Games NZ to host both events at different on-mountain locations. To accommodate this, The North Face Frontier 2* competition has been moved to Treble Cone.
Winter Games NZ would like to thank The Remarkables for their athlete focused approach, and express appreciation to both The Remarkables and Treble Cone for accommodating these changes at short notice.

Winter Games NZ is proud to host The North Face Frontier 2* & 4* events at The Remarkables Ski Area. These events always boast a huge field, with both Kiwi and international freeriders taking on the epic terrain at The Remarkables.
With the opportunity to score Freeride World Qualifier points that can be applied to either Region 1 or Region 2, this is a key event for many Freeride athletes.

The North Face Frontier 2* Bib Collection and panel discussion
Following the bib collection for the 2* event, join the discussion with a panel of past and present Freeride World Tour athletes, as well as judges who know all the ins and outs of the tour. Get an insider's perspective on what it takes to compete at the highest level in freeride skiing and have your questions answered by the pros themselves.

Women's Freeride Day at The Remarkables:
Thursday 22 August | We’re calling all female 2* and 4* competitors to join us in building and celebrating the sisterhood of freeride. You’ll get the chance to shred alongside female athletes from The North Face, as we come together to explore the mountain, scope lines and push boundaries in a supportive environment. Through this unique opportunity you’ll be able to connect with like-minded women, share experiences and enjoy a day of fun and progression before competition day.
This event will be led by The North Face athletes Janina Kuzma, Alex Armstrong, Leanne Pelosi and ambassador Siobhan Challis.
Spectator Information
Spectators are invited and encouraged to come and watch The North Face Frontier! It’s free to view the events once you’re on the mountain.
At the finish areas we have music, a BBQ and MC’s commentating and explaining what’s going on and who competing. Come join the fun, watch the show and support local and international stars as they take on the steep rocky competition faces!
